The Duda family, originally from Slovakia, immigrated to the United States in the early 1900s. They established the A. Duda & Sons agricultural business in 1926, which became a significant player in the farming industry.
In the 1940’s the Duda family purchased a large tract of land in Brevard County, where Viera is now located. Initially, this land was used for ranching and agricultural purposes. In the late 1980s, the family envisioned transforming their land into a vibrant, master-planned community. This vision led to the creation of Viera, and Viera builders which means “faith” in Slovak, reflecting the family’s heritage.
Viera’s development began in the late 1980s and was designed to be a sustainable community with a mix of residential, commercial, and recreational spaces.
Over the years, Viera has grown significantly, attracting families, retirees, and businesses. It has expanded to include a variety of neighborhoods, schools, shopping centers, and recreational facilities.
